Why I decided to be a Massage Therapist: From my point of view, it's a very relaxing and satisfying job! I can't say I've ever had a bad day at work..how many people can say that? I started at Work Systems Fitness and Rehab in the fall of 2011. It's a great place to work because I am working among physical therapists, fitness instructors and directors, and members who want to take care of their bodies. I use the tools I have learned to make clients feel better and to further their knowledge about mind/body awarness and muscular health. I enjoy working with all types of clients from infants to elderly. If you are looking to stay ahead of muscular injuries or just want to come in and relax, please give me a call!!
I grew up in the small town of Belle Plaine, Iowa. I loved (and still love) sports. I excelled in volleyball, track, and softball; and went on the play volleyball in college. In 2002, I graduated from the University of South Carolina: Upstate with a Bachelor's Of Science Degree in Physical Education: Corportate Fitness. Upon graduating, I moved back to Iowa and became employeed within the YMCA of Cedar Rapids/Marion; first as a Fitness Supervisor/Personal Trainer and later promoted to Director of Aquatics and Fitness.
In the winter of 2006, I decided to head back to school for massage therapy. I studied full time at Carlson College of Massage Therapy in Anamosa, Iowa and graduated from there in the summer of 2006. At graduation, I was rewarded the First Joy-Joy Scholarship, a scholarship given to one graduating student to assist in his/her new career. I worked in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area as a massage therapist for five years before our family moved to Pella, Iowa.
My husband, Jeremy and I were married in the summer of 2006. We moved to Pella in 2011. We have a daughter, Kenzie, and a son, Wyatt, who keep us very busy and entertained. I also coach volleyball at Central College. I have coached volleyball for nine years and have worked with all levels, from sixth graders to the collegiant level. I have a strong passion for this game and for the program I am now a part of...Go Dutch!!
